A Story of Transformation, Symbolism, and Personal Identity

Tattoos are more than just designs on skin. They are powerful expressions of who we are, our experiences, and our heritage.

Welcome back to Your Ink Story!

Our guest on Episode 10 is Kale Liam Hobbes, and he shares fascinating tattoo stories and the deep symbolism behind his ink.

Kale hails from Edmonton, Alberta, and his tattoo journey began with a small name tattoo on his shoulder. However, when the relationship ended, Kale covered it up with a beautiful rose, a Celtic cross and harp, designed by the talented tattoo artist Cheyenne from At Needlepoint.

The rose holds a dual significance for Kale, representing his English heritage and serving as a tribute to his mother, whom he shared a bond with gardening. The Celtic cross symbolizes his Irish heritage, while the harp represents his love for music, having played instrumental music in high school.

Kale also has a military tattoo on his right thigh, which features a cobra with dog tags hanging out of its mouth, paying homage to Kale's service in Her Majesty's Royal Canadian Medical Corps. The design reflects his time in the medical profession and embodies strength and resilience.

During our delicious conversation Kale shares the heartwarming love story with his wife Donna, whom he met online when she fell in love with his poetry.

When Kale met Donna, he was a Mom to three young boys. Donna was instrumental in helping Kale transition, and this profound love story will leave you with a deeper understanding of the courage it takes to live a fully expressed life.

Kale’s third tattoo is the word Irish… an anagram…  and his youngest son loved this tribal Irish tattoo so much that he got a matching one, but with shamrocks instead of triquatras. A beautiful family connection through ink!
